I edit and proofread fiction novels of any genre but have most of my experience with different Romance genres. I follow The Chicago Manual of Style along with the Merriam-Webster dictionary unless directed otherwise.
I provide a human touch and feel, which I think results in a cleaner, finished product when compared to computerized software editors. I become totally invested in your characters and your book. I want it to succeed as much as you do.
One thing I do not do is tear your book to pieces. When I feel something isn’t working, I let you know. I can provide suggestions for changes, but I don’t rewrite the story. I leave that up to you. This is your book and I am only here to help it flow and keep the reader interested and turning the pages.
If you use my services for your published works, I will paste your book on my Portfolio page with a link to your Amazon page. I would love to be notated in your book as the editor or proofreader. If you are happy with my work and want to provide a small testimonial, I would be ever so grateful and will post it on my Testimonials page along with a link to your website or whatever page you choose.
Proofreading
This takes place after the editing phase. I can do previously published books or new ones. This is where I take care and read very carefully; where I use my trained eye and English knowledge to spot spelling mistakes, punctuation issues, and typos. This is where I make your manuscript sparkle with a clean, polished copy.
Turnaround time is normally 7 days, but it also depends on the number of words and the condition of the manuscript. Book your timeslot early to avoid disappointment. $25 non-refundable deposit required at time of booking.
Minimum charge: $50 USD
Service includes:
- Correct spelling, grammar, basic punctuation
- Identify missed or incorrect words
- Confirm trade names and proper nouns are correct
- Identify inconsistencies in the story
- Ensure consistency within a series if all books have been proofread by me
- Provide a tracked-changes document for your approval
One Pass: $0.0030 USD/word
Two Passes: $0.005 USD/word

Copy Editing (Not accepting new clients at this time)
This service is more in-depth editing of your self-edited work. It includes the same services as a proofread, but more attention is given to the flow of the story, the writing style, verb tenses, word choices. Turn-around time is 14-21 days, depending on the length and condition of the manuscript. Urgent requests can usually be negotiated, but editing should never be rushed.
Minimum charge: $75 USD
Service includes:
- Proofreading services noted above, more focus placed on punctuation
- Consistency of spelling, numbers, hyphens, capitalization
- Verb tense
- Sentence structure, repetitive words and/or phrases
- Ensure factual statements are made
- Other issues such as plot consistency, continuity and flow, and character development
NOTE: If there is anything specific you know you have struggled with, let me know, and I’ll pay special attention to that detail.
One Pass: $0.0060 USD/word
Two Passes: $0.0090 USD/word (2nd pass after edits from 1st round
